THE MEMORY

Starts with the party hanging out at the hospital with Elsa and Alcott. Everything is peaceful! The conversation turns to Grune's memory, and she starts talking to thin air--thin air happens to be named Volt. THEN in the midst of this totally normal conversation, Csaba comes in and announces that another of Moses' bandits has been attacked! It's quickly revealed that this is a . . . recurring pattern, and that there's a strong suspicion Giet, Moses' galf companion who has been missing, may have been involved.

Moses: What, are you going to start accusing Giet, too?
Csaba: Nobody's willing to say it out loud, but our guys definitely suspect Giet. They're looking for him right now, trying to figure out the truth. They can't just sit around and do nothing; everybody's worried about him turning wild.
Will: Turning wild? What are you talking about?
Moses: Giet would never hurt his family. Y'all know that!
Csaba: I know better than anyone how close you and Giet are. But you can't just erase the fear of him turning wild.

Everyone agrees to go to the Misty Mountains to find the REAL CULPRIT and clear Giet's name, and they run into Giet, with blood on his fur, on the way there. Moses goes a little berserk when people point out that this is suspicious. What, you don't trust Giet???

Jay: Well, Giet is a galf, after all. No matter how strong your bond may be, no matter how connected you are, nothing can change that fact. It isn't natural for a galf to be living together with humans in the first place.
Moses: You ain't ever got a kind word for anyone, do you, Jay? What've you seen after all this time? After everything we've been through? You've seen me and Giet together. This ain't got nothin' to do with your stupid "logic."
Norma: All right, that's enough, guys. Let's just go investigate, okay?
Moses: Me and Giet'll make quick work outta whatever monster is doin' all this. After we do that, everyone can shut it! Let's go, Giet!
Jay: He's so easy to read. He can't conceal his irritation at all.
Senel: And that's why you can't help worrying about him, right?
Jay: I'm not . . . worried . . . .

They stop after a while to rest, and Moses goes on ahead to scout with Giet, still being obnoxiously, fakely cheerful. The rest of the party asks Csaba to explain his suspicion of Giet (in light of the fact that Moses and Giet are really, really close) and this "turning wild" phenomenon. We learn that all beasts turn wild without exception and that this is especially dangerous with Giet--he's a grand galf, and they're very large and unusually powerful, capable of massacring entire villages.

Shirley: What happens to beasts after they turn wild?
Csaba: There are two paths. One is for it to be killed by the person who was its partner.
Norma: Jeez, are you serious?
Csaba: No matter what, beasts that turn wild always attack their partner.
Will: For the beast, it may be a kind of ritual to return to its wild state. A ritual to cut its ties to humans.
Csaba: However, not all beast tamers win. Some simply lose the fight, and some
fall to their emotions and choose death. That's the other path.
Norma: ...That's serious.
Grune: I don't like that at all.
Csaba: That is the destiny of a beast tamer.
Moses: Hah hah! Me and Giet are going to change that destiny.
Senel: Moses.
Csaba: Everyone says that, but they all go on to meet their fates. They all thought they would be the one exception. You know that as well as anyone, Moses!
Moses: Come on, now. Me and Giet are different! Hah hah hah!

They come upon a monster and easily defeat it, but Giet continues to attack it savagely, even though it's clearly not getting up and Moses is ordering him to stop. Moses loudly insists that it's nothing! He is clearly upset, though, and on the way back and in Werites Beacon, everyone is talking about it.

Jay: I wonder if Giet's really all right.
Senel: There's nothing we can do now but wait and see.
Chloe: Meaningless conjecture will only complicate matters.
Will: Still, I don't want to wait around for something to happen. By then, it might be too late.
Jay: I'll gather as much information as I can.
Senel: Thanks, Jay.
Jay: Though to be honest, I can't say I'm all that thrilled about doing something like this for Moses.

He walks off, and the memory ends there.

WHAT HE LEARNS

A lot of this information was given in a previous memory, but this helps clarify a few things about what exactly they were doing and why. Also, Moses is so bad at fronting.

EFFECTS

NOT A LOT OTHER THAN "GOD MOSES YOU SUCK"

he already knows this got resolved so!!
