SWIFT CAN NOW OPERATE A BOAT. A motorboat?! Yes, this will definitely be useful (don't question Tales of Legendia technology).

The rest of his base eres--these are essentially weapons-based special attacks. List below, mostly for my own reference!

GAME Game 45/Day 323, Hatter's skill swap game
FORM a very large, sour jawbreaker
TAKEN offscreen, around Day 325

This is a knowledge skill, possibly also including some vaguely handwaved military history, where relevant. Jay moonlights as a strategist for a major empire and so presumably knows his stuff.

GAME Game 43/Day 306, Hades' plants game
FORM a ball of very dark chocolate
TAKEN offscreen, Day 307

This is four skills: Pyre, Ice Storm, Brutal Earth, and Merciless Thunder. Essentially Swift sticks his dagger into the ground and (it's a bit delayed, though not quite as much as regular casting) calls up a small field of fire, or ice, or whatever. It's kind of like a weak elemental spell, but an area effect--about eight feet across, circular, not taking into account the powercap. Maybe he'll use it to set things on fire.

When characters use eres, their fingernails glow.

Eres are also canonically the blessings of Nerifes, the ocean and the major deity of Legendia-world. This "sacred eres" specifically comes from the Quiet Nerifes, not the main ocean of the world but a sea that the party encounters underground . . . enclosed by a fake sky . . . on an island that's really a giant ship . . . basically don't think about it too hard? Power-wise he's at about 30-40% of where he will be, which is still pretty powerful! (But that's largely not relevant to this particular skill, which I think can be powercapped roughly akin to existing magic schema.)

If you are reading this for skillswap: you will not be able to tell exactly where this power comes from (the party doesn't know that eres is linked to Nerifes until partway through the game) unless you have some kind of supernatural sensing ability, but characters do at times state that they feel their eres makes them closer to Nerifes, that it might be a method of communicating with Nerifes, and so on. So there is some sort of a connection there, however subconscious! Obviously there's no sea in this realm to feel affinity to, but.

Likely irrelevant sidebars-- eres is also used to power a lost civilization's technology (opening doors/gates, turning on elevators and trams), and characters also use their eres to banish something very like Darkness-influence in Legendia-world. An aura of light literally surrounds them and clears it away. Yes. (With sufficient resolve, of course.)

What it says on the tin!

Jay is (was) a ninja. This skill is all mundane shit rather than any kind of illusions/hiding in plain sight nonsense, but he is very good at what he does.

This skill is opt-IN for obvious reasons, so if people would comment and tell me whether you'd be okay with having him listen in on conversations/what kinds of things you're okay with him finding out, that would be great! And if anyone wants to play with this skill at all--Jay will on occasion do things like FOLLOW HIS FRIENDS AROUND SECRETLY AND POP UP WHEN THEY LEAST EXPECT IT, uhh--you should also let me know!

it's very sad that I don't have an innatree icon for him

GAME Game 23/Day 165, Kitsune's two truths and a lie game
FORM a ripe white peach
TAKEN Day 167, early afternoon (at some point)

This is actually just COMBAT SKILL. Jay is canonically a ~killing machine~ trained in some kind of ninja style that seem to involve a lot of quick cuts and kicking you, possibly in the head. Legendia's battle mechanics aren't really helpful since it's a button-masher of a game, and he doesn't have his eres/artes back so that's limiting . . . but I guess I am a combatant now??

also probably time to quest for an actual weapon huh

GAME Day 153/Game 22, the Unicorn's negative CR game
FORM two interlocking pieces of wood
TAKEN Day 154-155 (before Saya's skill post), offscreen

I called it conditioning, but this is basically his level-up skill--Jay now has the stats of an RPG protagonist at endgame. Unfortunately I don't have the game with me to look at exactly what that would mean, so I am going to go off memory and extrapolation about what his real-world abilities would be.

Jay is fast and dexterous and can do acrobatic fucking pirouettes off Senel's head, if the manga is to be believed, but his HP is on the low side relative to the rest of the party and his defense is shit, as anyone who has actually played Tales of Legendia knows. I assume that in practice, he just tries not to get hit much.

In essence: he is faster, will dodge better, and is now capable of doing the quick strikes and flippy shit we see in canon--anything primarily acrobatic he will gain with time and practice; anything in terms of attack technique . . . that skill's still locked.

This also means I can unlock his breakdancing skill I guess . . . .

HAMMERSPACE TIME 8) It's a standard RPG inventory, it works like a standard RPG inventory! Limit 15 per item in canon, so probably more like 10 in Aather.

All of Jasper [ETA 6/3: EXCEPT ERIKA, lmao] can access his inventory if they ever happen to get an inventory skill . . . that's it, for the moment!
