Sometimes this is literal (Marine's chime being part her hair color), sometimes metaphorical--Tsuruume gets brown because she's very sensible and no-nonsense and grumpy; Church gets red because it's a loud color and he's very loud. Originally they were all just their team color but I decided that wasn't very interesting.
