TAKEN Day 152, afternoon
MEMORY
THIS IS ANOTHER LONG ONE: parts 1 (6:35 on) 2 3 4 (through 5:15 or so) here. I am not going to summarize the whole thing, but here are some bullet points:
Notable throughout the memory is a lack of . . . emotion, considering that people are dying and in danger of dying all over the place. Jay is really only concerned with a) the otters b) making sure living on the Legacy continues to be okay c) his job, with some low level worry directed at the party--he will have more viewing this memory than at the time, actually.
WHAT HE LEARNS
+ . . . haha no
+ okay, "Jay is carrying out the will of his friends"
+ also Chloe's troubles with Stingle
+ also Shirley's Merines problems
+ also I can do ninja illusions
+ I'm not even going to try to summarize world and plot information
EFFECTS
+ 100 taunting your enemies
+ 50 strategy!!
+ 50 masks
+ 200 (unsure) about self
. . . this comes at a weird time. Swift is thinking a lot about emotional honesty and wanting friends and why he acts the way he does (thx Hakuren, thx C.C.), and this is a very same-old, same-old, disdainful, disaffected, distancing memory. Jay has a small world here, and he doesn't really care about expanding it; there's a definite wall between him and the people he now knows he loves to bits, and in certain instances he's the one creating it. He will take a lot of different things away from this memory (spoilers: it will not improve his relationship with Prince hi Prince), but most of them will . . . not necessarily be good. It will take some thinking.

TAKEN Day 152, afternoon
MEMORY
THIS IS ANOTHER LONG ONE: parts 1 (6:35 on) 2 3 4 (through 5:15 or so) here. I am not going to summarize the whole thing, but here are some bullet points:
- AFTER JOINING THE PARTY, Jay and everyone else fight their way through the rest of the way to the Bridge! They talk to Fenimore for a bit but like Jay cares.
- They reach the foot of MASSIVE TOWER AND WILL GIVES THEM A SPEECH.
- "We're not all one single entity. We each have our own reasons for fighting. Senel wants to rescue his sister. Chloe wishes to save her country from peril. Moses seeks vengeance for his comrades. Jay is carrying out the will of his friends. And my own desire is to see peace returned to the Legacy. While the thoughts going through all our minds may be different [. . . BREAK FOR NORMA] we've still managed to come this far together. Let's keep that up and put an end to this, once and for all."
- First floor of the MASSIVE TOWER (aka Bridge) is Melanie! Jay throws a smoke bomb and the party evades her--she comes back to meet them at the end of the
levelfloor and they dispatch her. And . . . celebrate over her corpse? Tales of Legendia's attitude toward killing is weird as fuck. - Second floor is Cashel! Cashel taunts Moses, Moses has grown maturity somehow, Cashel does his ninja illusion shit, which Jay dismisses easily.
- Jay: I'm pretty confident in my abilities, as well. I get anxious when another
person and I are good at the same things.
Cashel: Oh?
Jay: I always feel I simply must find out which one is truly better. Don't you?
Cashel: ...Amusing. Well, then, let's see what you can do! - Spoilers: it's not much of a contest. Jay is bored (Cashel is kind of 80% bluster, and Jay is just that good) and cocky and really, really masky throughout this, although it's a mask he wears well! He is just :) :) :) gosh let me wipe the floor with you. After the floor has been wiped, Moses tries to thank him for his help, but, uh:
Jay: Why should I shake hands with the likes of you?
Norma: ...just how much they hate each other.
Moses: You little punk! And here I was offerin' my thanks! - Stingle is the third floor! Stingle is unremarkable except that he clearly has a connection to Chloe somehow, and I would not be surprised if Jay knows enough about Chloe at this point to put two and two together, but as we are never getting Legendia cast I don't think it's relevant.
- Top floor is Vaclav. They kill Vaclav but fail to stop the Nerifes Cannon from firing--twice, once into the mountain and once directly towards a city. Shirley tries and fails to stop the second shot with her MERINES POWAHS, and Stella takes it out with her teriques instead, at the cost of her life.
