THE MEMORY
Quppo: Jay came to the Legacy on a mission to assassinate someone.
Pippo: But the mission ended in failure.
Poppo: Solon brought a number of his men with him to the Legacy.
Pippo: But a large force was waiting to catch them and wipe them out. Solon's group lost badly.
Quppo: It was a terrible battle, and many people lost their lives.
Pippo: Solon used Jay as a decoy and escaped.
Poppo: Jay collapsed outside our village, injured and exhausted. Alone.
aka the other (first) half of this! I am assuming some sequence of events like the following:
- Jay is sent to the Legacy to assassinate, presumably, Musette. This does not go so well, and he narrowly escapes with his own life.
- MEANWHILE, Solon has marshalled his forces for an attack on the Legacy, under the assumption that the Rexalian army, having just lost its sovereign, is in disarray--instead, they have anticipated him, and he is also forced to retreat, with escape becoming difficult.
- Jay finds Solon, who berates him for his failure, and then sends him (and possibly some of his forces) out on the decoy mission while Solon escapes.
This memory covers everything leading up to the actual decoy mission; being given his assignment, tracking and attempting to kill Musette, failing and fleeing. He is used to killing by this point and accepts it as his position in life, but does not particularly like it. There's also a -- horror? Despair, desperation -- over the latter half of this memory, since Jay at this point ties his worth heavily to his usefulness to Solon.
WHAT HE LEARNED
+ Details of the assassination mission, including that it was Musette--which plays interestingly considering his relationship with her in the game timeline!
+ He is, by this point, getting a pretty good idea about what his life under Solon was generally like.
