I do wonder what it is that allows this magic to--what was the term Genette used?--"permeate existence." Assuming the frequency theory of magic is even the truth.

I wonder if the difference isn't that the magic is imbued in an inert object, rather than being invested in a person. Or perhaps our powers ultimately derive from our own worlds, and this is just a matter of proximity.

The non-murderous Uvi talked about how Elto magic was somehow different from the kind of magic humans used. That might be relevant.

We do not have the information to make a decision. In some ways, that might be deciding against her, but mostly I'm frustrated from the lack of information. I'm willing to work with her if I know more about what she's doing and who she is.
