[There's a soft cursing sound, and rising alarm on the other end of the link. Something yanks hard, as though Jay is trying to shut down the telepathic link from his end, although it doesn't seem to be working.]
[A tangled-up snatch of thought, something like: how much has he figured out and what is he going to ask and, a little softer, never wanted anyone to--, all abruptly drowned out by a, pull it together, he can hear you--
The thoughts go quiet at that, but don't actually stop, although they're hard to hear when Jay sends out a short,]
Nothing. I'm fine. [Another few seconds pass, and then he sends a more tentative:] What about you? Are you all right?
[ jude is more and more baffled and worried by the second, and he doesn't believe that jay is anything close to fine, but he keeps his mouth shut for the time being. ]
I'm alright, but dream Jude isn't. When you die in a dream, you wake up.
[ he puzzles over whether to ask him this or not. he doesn't want to cause him any further distress, but at the same time, the curious side of him needs to know. ]
